What are your healthy living habits?
What do you think is health, what is it for you, how do you see it? For many of my patients, health means solving a medical condition, being happy and free of pain again.
There are many definitions for health. It is true, broadly speaking, to be healthy means to have a strong immune system that keeps you away from diseases. Moreover, healthy means a well-balanced mind, body and spirit all harmoniously working and supporting each other. It also means to address any serious condition before it becomes chronic.
Nowadays with the help of modern technology, at a click of a button you open many windows of information regarding health and what to do to maintain it or improve it.
Research has approached in depth many of the commonly accepted factors of a healthy lifestyle. Many other healthy habits come from common sense and from different cultures. Just to mention a few and refresh your memory:
- Clean air, drinking enough water, eating balanced natural foods, getting enough sleep.
- Practicing sports or walking a few kilometers a day.
- Relaxing your mind and body.
- Reducing any type of excesses and avoiding addictive drugs. Being socially active.
- Listen to your preferred music, enjoy your warm cup of tea or coffee.
- Enjoy spending time with family and friends, with people that you love.
- Practicing deep breathing and gentle movements.
- Clean your body, your house and your backyard.
- Be generous and involve yourself into your community.
- Enjoy working in your garden or cooking.
- Protect your emotions and mind from negative influences.
- Dress appropriately to temperature and weather conditions.
When you are sick or in good health you want to practice healthy habits or find out what else is missing from a healthy life. Then you want to put that knowledge into practice.
